Who we are

Solidi is a new and exciting Crypto Currency exchange based in the beautiful city of Cambridge. We are part of the University of Cambridge's Accelerate Cambridge programme and housed in the spectacular Judge Business School.

What is it like working in a cutting-edge Crypto Fintech?

Working at Solidi, no two days are ever the same. As a small company we all get the opportunity to work on everything from business planning, product design and customer experience all the way down to fetching the coffee (check out our cafeteria) and talking to our fans (customers really, but we think of them as so much more than that).

Solidi is all about disrupting the financial services industry. Where others see problems, we see solutions waiting to be unleashed. While others worry about protecting their industry, we wonder about what the next industry will be.

Crypto Currencies and blockchain are in their infancy. If you were to compare our progress to that of the Internet, we're still in the mid-1990s with dial up modems. 99% of the UK population have never used a crypto currency or blockchain-based product. Our mission is get that to 99% who have.

Part Time / Full Time - £30,000 - £45,000 + equity
Cambridge, UK

Do you want to build beautiful, functional websites? Do you really care about the user experience? Do you get a kick out of making something scale fluidly and beautifully from tiny 3" displays to 5k monsters? And can you do it all while keeping the wheels on a 24/7 website, processing milllions of pounds in transactions? Then you might just be up for the challenge at Solidi.

As employee number 4 (or 5) you will be responsible for everything - nothing will be outside your remit and you will take up the challenge!

Responsibilities

  • Support the existing team by taking over web development tasks on the main Solidi site
  • Propose, design, cost and implement new features
  • Promote Solidi as part of our social marketing campaign
  • Participate in testing, deploying and live testing of all site upgrades
  • Take the lead in designing our next generation trading site

Required Skills

  • Very strong front-end skills (PHP5 / React / HTML5 / CSS / JavaScript)
  • Advanced knowledge of responsive and mobile design
  • Strong skills in CSS / JS frameworks and libraries (jQuery / Bootstrap / React)
  • Good understanding of web security considerations and best practices
  • Linux command line experience
  • Git source control experience
  • A strong portfolio showcasing your development skills
  • Able to work as part of a small team, taking ownership of deliverables and working to tight deadlines

Desirable Skills

  • Node.js experience (future career development)
  • Python
  • MySQL (or other SQL variant)
  • Familiarity with web sockets and Restful API's

This position comes with a 6 month probation period
